Happy Leap Year!

Does anyone else find it strange that we don't do anything special for this day? I mean, it only comes around once every four years, you'd think there'd be something to honour it. Maybe that's just me....

So, what's up with me? Wouldn't you like to know? All right, I give in.

Let's start with the most persistent: I am scared to death about the missions trip that I am leaving for in....FIFTEEN DAYS!!! It just makes me so uneasy because I honesly have no idea what to expect. I mean I know the general outline of what we might be doing down there, but really, I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally looking forward to it. I know it'll be an awesome experience, and my team has some pretty amazing people on it. I just feel so unprepared. (ew, this is a really ugly colour, remind me never to use it again...what is it called, do you think?)

So that's that...um, my dad broke his elbow. But that happened a couple of weeks ago, and his cast is off. Still can't do much with it, apparently, but yay for no cast. That equals improvement. I still want to get a cast. Maybe I've not shared this desire with you. I want to experience what it's like to have a cast on. Of course I'm not really hoping for excruciating pain or a shattered bone or anything like that. Maybe I can get a doctor to put one on me just for the hey of it. What do you think my chances of that happening are?

Did I tell you about my new semester? Oh. I think I left off saying I would update you soon on how that's going.... well, I think a month is about enough time to make up my mind about it. Just had to be sure, you know....

It's been pretty good over all. I decided to drop Math 12 for German 11, so that's been good. We're working on a rather difficult/time consuming project right now. He's "given" us each $3000 and we have to plan a trip through some German speaking country visiting certain types of places and junk. I guess it's not that bad. It just sucks because I'm looking at all these places and "planning" where I'm going to go, and I wish I could really go there. All those cathedrals and castles...so pretty...

Spanish has been good. I love it, as always. We got to choose our own seating plan, too, so I'm sitting next to friends. Happiness.

Bible is interesting. I chose World Religions, for those of you who don't know. It's good to learn about all these different religions and why the do what they do or believe what they believe. We've only gone over a few so far, but it's been good.

English. What can I say? Is there any subject I could love more? I'm in the accellerated English class, so we're doing English 12 stuff right now, and we have the same class we've had for the past two years, and our teacher this year is awesome. We have learned a lot alreadyl, but it doesn't really feel like it because it's so much fun. We don't take millions of notes, it's mostly discussions about all the topics. It's great. I love it.

Course selection for next year was due today. I'm pretty happy with what I chose. Let's see if I can remember....Bible - I chose "Life Issues" for that one. Um.... Comparative Civilizations, English Lit, Spanish, Sewing, Psychology, P.E., and that ever-beloved "study" block. Hehe. We'll see how much studying actually goes on. My two alternative choices are Law and Family Studies.

So, I think that's it for this month. Thank you very much for being curious and nosy about the happenings in my own life.

I appreciate it more than I can say.

Hope you enjoyed today's report. Until next time,

Kaeli

Is it seriously still January?

That is unbelievable. This month has been so weird. With school, it seems to have flown by. But then whenever I think about this month it feels like it should be over already, like it's been going on forever. You know, I actually thought about blogging a week ago. A full week before the month ended. That's how slow it was going - it feels like I should be posting again. Lucky you, I actually deceded to post today. Still January. I can't get over that.

So, what's new with me? Well, school was not all that fun. Exam preparation and the like. It's super-duper fun! (that's supposed to be sarcastic, for those who didn't catch that) But now first semester is over. I had my Biology exam on Monday, and I didn't find it as difficult as I was expecting, which probably means I failed. Oh well. I figured out that even if I got 0% on the exam, I'd pass the course. Just barely, but pass I will. So it can't really be that bad.

Anyway, my Social Studies Provincial exam was supposed to be yesterday, but got cancelled because of a lot of snow (yes, you Saskatchewan people can laugh if you want, but for B.C., it was a lot of snow). So, that was rescheduled until next week. Whoopie. But I have the rest of this week off, so that's happy. I went to work with Chrys today. That was fun. I'm going to join her again on Friday.

Yes, I only had two exams. That's not so bad, I guess. I think I have three next semester, though...

Speaking of, I'm kind of not so excited for that to start. Mostly just because of Math. I hate math, and Math 12 is going to be very much not so fun for me. Other that that, though, I'm so excited. I've been waiting all year for English to start again. It's my favritist class ever. It's the English Accellerated class, so we have the same people every year, just a different teacher. It's such a great group. So much fun. I love it.

I'm also going to be starting Spanish on Monday, which is really good because as I'm going to Costa Rica in March, so I'm going to need to brush up on my spanish. Maybe learn some more applicable phrases other that "I need to use the bathroom." That's pretty much all I know that would be useful. Other than that I can talk about school and a little bit about myself. Barely. I haven't done anything with Spanish in a year, so it'll be interesting to get back into it. I'm really looking forward to it, though.

My last class is Bible. Mandatory at our school. I'm actually looking forward to it this year, though. My last bible teacher was awful. Everybody hated him, and there was much rejoicing when he retired. The teacher I'm going to have this year I've had before, and he's so much fun. Apparently we get to go on a lot of field trips, too, so that'll be really great.

I'll try to force myself to write again soon telling you about the first couple days of the new semester.

Hasta luego!

(ha! I do remember something....)

Oh...

I forgot to give an update on my Road Test...I passed. Yep, I'm now a Novice Driver, a.k.a. "Nerd." I'm quite proud of myself. So, now you know, if you even wanted to in the first place.

Happy New Year!

...like you haven't heard that a thousand times already. 2008. Whoopie. You know how I spent New Year's Eve? Babysitting. It was a party and a half, let me tell you. Set off the fire alarm. Yeah, that was great. Amazingly, only one of the boys woke up, and he went down again right away, so it wasn't a huge deal. Just very stressful for me. I mean, you think that just sitting around, reading, maybe watching a movie while the kids sleep wouldn't be all that eventful. Then there was this candle sitting on the counter and the flame was going crazy. It was super high, and all around the inside of the glass. It was around a bunch of flammable stuff, so I moved as much as I could, but I couldn't move the candle itself 'cause it burned my fingers. So I took an orange out of the fridge and smothered the flame. Yay me, it put the fire out. But, when you smother a large flame like that, it creates a lot of smoke. And that smoke set off the alarm. Panicked, I tried calling the parents to see if there was some way I could turn it off. They didn't hear the phone ring. So, I called Chryssie, almost in tears at this point because I had no idea what I should do, and the moment she answered the phone the alarm stopped. Then started up again a couple minutes later. I opened a door to try and air out the kitchen a bit, and the alarm turned off again after a bit and then it was fine. Then one of the boys woke up, and he's the one who is rather difficult when it comes to sleeping properly and such. Lucky for me, it was 11:00 and he was extremely tired and fell back to sleep quite easily. After that my evening was gratefully uneventful. Go ahead laugh if you want, my sisters already did. Yeah, I did too. Other than that little incident, it was a rather enjoyable evening. I got to read a lot, I was alone, it was quiet. Very nice.

So, that's my exciting story for today. January 1, 2008. Aren't you proud of me? I'm not making any promises, though, to keep up regular posts. Never have been good at keeping those New Year's Resolutions.....

Surprise!!

Ha! Bet you didn't expect to hear from me again so soon, I thought this might be a nice change. The first day of the month. It's so weird to think it's December now. So much is happening this month. Mom's birthday, Kyra's first birthday, Christmas, baby Unruh's birth. It'll be wild.

My friend Gabrielle is getting baptized tomorrow. Yay! I'm so excited for her. I get to go watch. It'll be so happifying. Well, I'm not going to go on for very long tonight. Just wanted to do something pleasantly surprising for all of you loyal readers out there. I'll talk to you again soon!

Hello again

Yes, it is true. I am finally posting for this month. I know I'm cutting it kind of close, but that's alright. It's still November. And I've had no comments prompting me to post, so I did it all on my own. I hope that doesn't mean I've been given up on. Although I understand completely if that's true. Well, I'm getting tired of writing this paragraph, so let's move on, shall we?

So I don't believe I even told you that I applied to go on a missions trip with my school, but I'm going. Yippee!! My team is headed to Costa Rica over Spring Break. I'm so excited. And scared. I've never done anything like this before, but I think I need to. It'll be good. My team is awesome, although we're still a bit awkward with each other. But once we get to know each other better, I can tell it'll be crazy and so much fun. I really hope so, anyway, or it will be a very looong, boring plane ride. Wow, for a second there I totally thought I had spelled plane wrong.

So, I'm trying to get into the habit of reading my bible, which is something I do....well, not ever, pretty much. So I was reading in Romans 12, which is the chapter we're studying as a team, and there was one part that had a little thingy in the margin leading to another passage so I went there and looked it up and then there were more things to look up from there and it was so much fun! Who knew reading the bible was just one big treasure hunt? Well, probably every Bible teacher out there, but hey, I'm new at this. Gimme a break.

Anyway, as I was looking through it, I ended up in the Proverbs, and found two that for some reason stuck out at me. They are in Proverbs 25.

Verse 16:
"Have you found honey? Eat only as much as you need, Lest you be filled with it and vomit."

Verse 20:
"Like one who takes away a garment in cold weather, and like vinegar on soda, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart."

So, these ones I singled out I think because I have a tiny little idea of what they might be saying, but when I really stop to think about it, I just get confused. So, here's a thought. How 'bout if you people who are reading this give me your take on what they mean. I think it'd be fun to see what we come up with.

Oh! Breaking news! We are dancing in P.E.... WITH THE GUYS' CLASS!!! Yes, you read that right. MEI is allowing DANCING between boys and girls!! I mean, we have to hold hands and everything. It's pretty crazy.

In a couple weeks I'm going to be taking my road test to hopefully get my N. It's quite terrifying. Although, really, if Jared passed his test, I think I'll be okay. :P Not that he'll read this, but no offense meant. Well, not much anyway.

Christmas banquet is on the same day as my test. I'm excited. It should be very fun. Although I still need to get my ticket.....

So, that's it for this month. And I just want you to know that even though I don't post very often, I think about it a lot. About all those readers who must be so disappointed to open my blog to find that nothing new has been added. To those who feel that keen disappointment, I apologize. I would say I'll try harder, but I don't know how I'll feel later on. So, I say farewell. For now. For a while. Forever? Who knows?

(For those of you who are panicking at this point, don't worry, it's not really forever.)

Thanks to all,

~Kaels

Deliberations

Today, along with being the deadline for this monthly post, is Halloween. It also happens to be the night of a volleyball game at my school that I actually really want to go to. However, I have plans with Chrys and her friend Vanessa to carve our pumpkins tonight. As some may remember from my posts last year (wow, that is really weird to say), this whole pumpkin carving thing was a blast. Smelly and somewhat irritating at times, but it was so fun! I'm thinking, though, that I'd rather go to the game with my friends. That could still change, though.

Anyway, now that I've bored you with my insignificant worries, let's see what there is to catch up for this month. I've decided that this year I want to go on a missions trip. I've never done anything of the sort, and I really think it'll be a good experience for me. Orientation is on Tuesday for everybody who applied, and I'll find out where I'm going then. I'm so nervous, though. What if I do everything wrong? It's scary. And it's not even entirely real to me that it's happening. There are apparently going to be a lot of team meetings and stuff before then, so we'll have time to get acquainted and go over what we'll be doing, I guess. Maybe then it will feel more real to me.

Do you see now why my posts have dwindled so drastically? This is pretty much all I can find to say about this month. This is pathetic. Um....oh! I finished the work shirt I was making in sewing for my mom. Yay. I'm very happy about that. Although that means I have to move on to the next project, which is a recycling thing. We have to find one or more old articles of clothing that we don't wear anymore and make something totally new out of them. I've decided that I want to take a bunch of shirts, rip them apart, and make a skirt out of the cloth. What do you think? Any other suggestions out there?

Oh, we're doing First Aid training in P.E. now. I'm so happy. I love it. I'm not looking forward to what our next section is going to be, though. Basketball officiating. Joy. A sport that I hate with a passion, and I'll probably have to sit there controlling the scoreboard or something. Super. I'd rather walk on hot coals. But, what can I do? I need at least five service hours for P.E. each term, or I'll fail that term. That would not be so fun. Volleyball officiating was fun, I like volleyball, but basketball? Sorry to any basketball fans out there. It might be a fun game to play if you actually have that ability, but I would rather not submit myself to watching it if it can be avoided.

There, that's better. A little more length to it now. Have a happy Halloween everybody! Be safe!

My, how the months fly....

It seems just yesterday Vanessa was reminding me every day that August was almost over, now September has slipped by as well. What a crazy month it's been! Well, I shall do my best to bring up to speed on what's going on with me.

First off, I shall finish telling you about that day camp thing I started talking about last month. As I said, it was held by Northview, for teenage girls. It was amazing. The best experience of my summer. Every morning we watched a segment of the video series by Lisa Bevere, author of Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry. She's an amazing speaker. I liked the videos better than the book, just because everything in there is information, things we need to know. It was kind of overwhelming, but not so much on video. it was very good. Then we had our first snack, which was smoothies. Everything we ate there was healthy and yummy. It was amazing. While we drank the smoothies, we had discussion about the video and then journaling time, if we wanted to write anything. Um....then we would do something else....oh. Worship. Strange that I forgot that. It's always my favourite part of anthing like this. I think there was usually a speaker during that time, and every one was powerful. Everyone who went up and spoke to us was blunt and didn't sugar-coat the truth. It was exactly what we needed to hear. Then we'd have another discussion in our small groups and then it would be lunch time. Then we had a game of some sort (always crazy) and then we had possibly another speaker and then our workout session. That was fun. Then we'd pretty much have free time where we hang out, journal, or write encouragement cards until our parents came. It was amazing.

Let's see...last I wrote about my job situation I was working at McDonalds. Yeah, I quit. I'm unemployed, and loving it. I really don't want to have to worry about a job on top of school and everything. Oh, school. Yes, that's started, obviously. It's been a couple weeks now. This semester I have Sewing, PE, Biology and Socials. It's not a bad semester, I guess. Bio's hard, though. Right now we have to invent a weed. It doesn't have to be realistic, but we have to do research and stuff for it, and drawings and stuff and it's just complicated and impossible. He showed us some examples of past projects, and they're amazing. I could never do something like that. It's very scary.

I have my driver's test scheduled, as well as my last three lessons with Young Drivers. It's unreal. In three months I could be driving ON MY OWN! I'm so excited. Oh, my instructor did take me on the freeway two lessons ago. I believe I was worrying about that two posts ago. It wasn't bad. Well, not as bad as I thought it would be. It was kind of scary at first, but after I got on there it was okay.

This past Friday I went with a couple friends to the BUG Tour, which came to my church. BUG stands for Beautiful Unique Girl. It's amazing. This year was even better than the last time they were here. It was amazing. I love these things. They never get old, are never redundant. They're always effective and touching. And so much fun.

Not much has really happened over the last month. Unless I'm totally missing something. I don't think so....

Well then, if I think of something else I'll post it. Sometime. Can't promise it'll be soon. Tata for now!

August Post

Since my updates seem to have dwindled down to monthly occasions, that seemed an appropriate title.

So, what's new with me? Well, I have a job. Yay me! I am now an employee of McDonalds. It's a very good job. So much fun. I love it. Yeah, there's not really much I can say on that subject.

Umm....I haven't been driving much lately. Oh! I just remembered I have a lesson soon. Mustn't forget about that. That would be very bad.

Last week I attended a day camp thing for teenage girls at Northview. My friend Stephanie invited me. It was amazing. They had speakers every day, and they all had amazing stories to share.

Monday, July 16, 2007

It's still July,

which means this post is okay. I haven't missed a month again. Actually the only reason I'm posting now is because I promised Lisa I would today. So, here we go.

I am in the process of attempting to get a job somewhere. I've applied to a few places, but no one's gotten back to me yet. I want to go out again soon and hand in resumes to some more places. I want a job. Summer is so boring. I wake up, and have nothing to do. Well, I can read or play piano or sew or something. And I could work with Diego. But reading too much at once makes me restless, I only know five songs on the piano, and I haven't found any new ones I'd like to know and for a while I wasn't able to sew because I didn't have the right zipper to continue and I didn't know how to thread a bobbin on my mom's machine. It was weird. There's some knobby thingamahoozawhatsit that I had to pull out to make it work. Who knew? And working with Diego doesn't take too long, several minutes at the most so he doesn't get over-tired. I just want to have something purposeful to do.

I saw Transformers yesterday with Tash and Chrys. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting it to be, but it turned out to be a pretty fun film. Long, but fun.

I had a weird dream some night. I don't remember which night it was, so don't ask. I just remembered it when I was reading what I had posted before. I mentioned something about how Kyra is growing so fast. Well, in my dream, she had all her teeth and had lost one already! And even then, right after the tooth fell out, the one underneath it was halfway in. It was weird. And scary. Not quite sure what it means. I'm actually surprised that I remembered it. Usually I don't remember my dreams. Until much, much later, or if it occurs again. That happens to me. I have dreams that I remember having when I was younger, but they've changed somehow, with different people or people added or people who were there before but didn't have faces or something. I don't know. It's odd.

I love Chrystal right now. Well, not that I hate her the rest of the time, but right now I'm uberly loving her. Yes, I just said uberly. Deal. Anyhoo, the reason I like her so darn much right now is because she has very kindly downloaded some games onto my computer that we used to have way back when. A really long time ago. I actually didn't play them much, if at all, since I was so y0ung and my (wonderful) selfish older siblings hogged them all the time. Anyway, the games are Pharaoh's Tomb, Commander Keen, and Crystal Caves. Awesome games. It's taken some time to get used to them, since I don't think I've really played them before, but they're so much fun! I love it. I still pretty much suck at Crystal Caves and Commander Keen, but I'll improve. Hopefully. That would be sad if I didn't, because these are games my siblings played when they were quite a bit younger than I am now.

So.....I think that's it right now. Fantabulous, hey? Yeah, I'm boring. Now maybe you understand why I don't update as often anymore. But, again, I will try. So, on that note, oh yeah!

I don't believe I've mentioned my driving lessons at all. Well, as some may know, I attained my learner's license in March, and soon afterward completed in-class sessions of the Young Drivers course. I am now doing in-car lessons with an instructor about once a month. I think I've had three so far. I really don't like them. They're so stressful and just so....I don't even know. But it's scary. I think next time he's going to make me drive on the freeway. I've never driven on the freeway before. It's scary. And fast. And scary. And I don't like his new car. The old one had a really touchy gas pedal, which was similar to the van's so it was familiar and I was used to working with it. In the new car it takes quite a bit to get my speed up, and it's harder to notice when I do speed up gradually and go above the limit.... but it only happened once. That he noticed. It's not fun being a learner. People are so rude (Jared, Chrys)! Although I understand why some people have almost no patience with us, at the same time you never know how long a person with their L has been driving. With an N you know it's been at least a year, so obviously they know how to drive. But with an learner, they could have been driving for a day or a year. You never know, really. I don't really know where I'm going with this. I don't think I am, really. So I'll just stop. Now.

Lisa:

Yes, this really is simply a post in response to a comment. Deal with it. At least I'm doing something, right?

So, in response to Lisa's comment that people will be utterly confused because I've never before mentioned that she's pregnant (yay!): Anyone who reads my blog usually reads Chrystal's blog, or Yvonne's blog, both of whom post much more often than I do, and have posted this exciting news. So really, I can't think of anyone who would read my blog who wouldn't already know. Therefore, no confusion. Hopefully. And anyway, technically by mentioning something about Lisa's baby coming sometime or whatever is subtly making people aware of the fact.

That's all for today. Sorry if anyone's disappointed.

The Happy and the Sad

Sad: I was looking at the comments on my blog, and as I glanced oer to the archives section I noted that I had at least one post in every month....except two. It made me feel not so happy. That's just not right. Every month should at least be listed up there. But no, it skips right from February to May. It's like March and April never even happened. I shall have to make up for it. Something that happened in March. Well, just a little thing called my sixteenth birthday. No biggie. Oh, Tash came back from Australia. Happiness. Oh, but that's not the happiness I mentioned in the title. Although it was very happy. Best birthday present I ever got. Anyhoo. Um, April....showers? We had some pretty nice May flowers, so that was good. Um...in April...I'm sure stuff happened. Y'know, school, partying, boozing it up, all that fun stuff. Hehe. Right. Anyhoo, I know this doesn't quite make up for missing those two months completely, but at least I made the effort, right?

Happy: Today is my wonderful, darling, beautiful eldest sister's twenty-fourth birthday! Yay Fonzi!! It's very fun. We're having a special birthday dinner tonight just for her. Usually we have one dinner for both her and Jared's b-days since they're only four days apart, but this year it's super-duper special. It's kind of weird. Two years ago it was just Yvonne and Eric and us, last year she was pregnant, and now we have Kyra. Things change so much so quickly. It's hard to imagine what things will be like after Jared and Lisa's baby arrives. Poor Kyra won't be so spoiled anymore, for one thing. Hehe. Poor girl. I'm sure she won't mind. Hehe. Yvonne and Eric have done such a good job with her. She's an amazing baby. She has a bit of a cold right now, so that's a bummer, but it'll pass. Yvonne, you're a wonderful mom and the most amazing eldest sister a girl could hope for. You are everything that is awesome, and I love you so much. Enjoy this day and know that you are greatly appreciated. Happy Birthday Fonzi! I love you!

Victory!!

Yes, it has actually happened. I am really posting only twelve days after my last update. It feels kind of nice to be back in the world of blogging. Wow, this is a really ugly colour. I guess that's what I get for choosing at random.

Anyhoo, updating now.

Here's a strange fact for you: a couple days ago I thought it was September. No, I'm absolutely serious. Something just felt like September. My mom mentioned something about December and I thought, "Hey, that's only a couple months away." Haha, not really. Half a year away is more like it. It's so weird though. Last semester I couldn't wait for it to end so there would be only half a year of school left, and now there're only TWELVE DAYS left. That's right. Twelve days of classes, twelve days of hanging out with friends daily, twelve days of slacking off while whispering with the friend next to me (which, of course, I never do....). It is unbelievable. It doesn't feel like the year should be ending yet. I don't want to leave English, it's such a fun class and I've learned so much. I love sewing, the accomplishment of wearing something out and knowing I made it. That's right, I've got skills. I don't want to leave this PE class because the girls in it are such amazing people. And now I'm finally liking German again and I have to leave it in two and a half weeks. I'm not ready. WHY DOES THE WORLD HAVE TO CHANGE?! (sigh) It's one part of life I've always dreaded. The changes, the moving on and becoming something new. I go into everything unfamiliar digging my heels into the ground and it takes me quite some time to get comfortable again. Oh well. I'll survive somehow. I always do.

Kyra is so annoying! Every time I see her she's grown more and is becoming more independant. She can pretty much sit on her own now, she's attempting to hold her own bottle sometimes, and she's rooling all over the place! My little baby girl is growing up. It's sad in a way, but still exciting. I want to see what my niece will be like when she's older. I'm guessing she'll be a lot like Yvonne. That's the way it looks right now. She's so beautiful, too! I love her so much.

I'm sure Chrys has mentioned on her blog that we've started taking Diego to training lessons. It has been working out really well. He catches on to things we teach him really quickly, and we're starting to see that adorable puppy again behind that monster exterior. It's still going to take a lot of work to get him at the level we want, but I'm very impressed with the results so far.

I think that's everything exciting going on with me right now, so sayonara folks!

Oh yeah, in response to Chrystal's last comment on my last post, I did start this blog then, but then you insisted that we go work with Diego right at that moment so I had to save it and finish it today. So really, it's you're fault this is a day later than I thought it would be. And I didn't change the number of days at the top of this post because technically I was blogging yesterday. So stop nagging me! (for now)

I'm sorry!

Whew! Now that we've got that over with, let's see if I can catch you up on recent events, shall we? Let's see here...um...well...yeah. I'm drawing a bit of a blank here right now. Oh! Last month....oops....I went with my sisters and mom to Beauty and the Beast at my school. They did an amazing job. I was very impressed. On May 4 I went to Songs, Strings and Steps with my parents and Tash and my omi. It was amazing. They had all sorts of music and presentations. There were people with jump-ropes (don't laugh, it's amazing if you see it), fencing during the soundtrack to Pirates of the Carribean, dancing, and amazing music. It was very fun. The theme for the evening was Music in Motion.
Last week at school were Student Council elections for the 07/08 year. I love campaign week. People are constantly coming up to you and giving you fun stuff and candy and it's so much fun! I'm happy with the people who were elected. They were mostly the people I voted for, except for one person, but I really didn't care about Sports Rep. anyway, so that's not a big deal.
School is out in just over a month! It's craziness! It feels like last week I was relieved to have the first semester over, and now the second one's almost gone. It's kind of sad. I really like my classes this semester. English, German, and P.E. All relatively easy courses. I'm definitely not looking forward to next year. My mom made me sign up for Math 12! I barely made it through Math 11 okay. Next year is going to be insane. I can't believe I'm actually going to do this. She says it'll be a good thing for me to have, but I'm not seeing how Math has anything to do with psychology or linguistics. Those are the things I'm considering studying after I graduate, in case you were wondering. Yep, it took sixteen years, but I now have some view of what I want to be when I grow up. Something realistic, anyway. Not just "mermaid" or "queen of England." I wonder if I'll actually end up doing either of those things.
Anyhoo, that's pretty much what's going on with me right now. I'll try to update again before another two months pass - sorry Chrys and Fonz. And anybody else who may have been waiting endlessly for a new update on my fascinating life story. Sayonara, folks!

Oops

Wow, I honestly didn't realize how much time had gone by since my last post. Let's see. What's happened?

Just after my last update I had my exam week, which actually only contained two exams. I think I did pretty good. I'm disappointed with my math mark, but the results haven't come back from my science exam yet, so we'll see. I am very pleased with my Spanish mark, which was a final grade of 99%. Apparently I wrote a perfect essay on the final exam. That was a pleasant surprise.

In the new semester I now have English, German, Sewing and P.E. It's a pretty good semester, I think. English has always been a class that I enjoy, and the work isn't too incredibly difficult. German is pretty much impossible to fail, unless you try really, really hard. Again, not really a difficult subject. Sewing is fun, but it took me a while to get the hang of it again. The last time I took sewing was in grade 8, so I had forgotten everything I'd learned. I couldn't even thread the machine. But it's all good now, and I'm currently sewing my sweater for my first assignment. Today was pretty much a wasted class, though, since I finished off the first step and then completely screwed up the second one. I was supposed to sew the hood pieces together, but I did it backwards. I spent the rest of class taking out the stitches. Not so fun. P.E. has actually been enjoyable for me this year and last. I had always hated it, but now I'm finally beginning to enjoy it. I'm even taking it again next year, even though it's not a required course anymore. Although that's partially because I have to complete 80 hours of physical activity for my graduation portfolio, and this will take care of that.

My sixteenth birthday is in nineteen days! That's crazy. I can't believe how fast it's coming. I really need to start studying for my learner's test. And, even more exciting than my birthday....Tasha's coming home in twenty days!!! I'm so excited! I can't wait. I want to see her again and hug her and never let her leave again, although I think she's already talking about another trip somewhere. She's anxious to be home, though. She has been doing so much in these past months. I'm so proud of her. She's my hero. Or one of them, at least. I think I have quite a few.

Course selection for next year is due this Friday. After talking to my mom and one of my friends for quite some time, I have finally filled it out. It is ready to be handed in. I think the biggest issue I had to make a decision on was whether or not to take Math 12. For a while I didn't want to, but I think it'll be good. My mom really really wants me to take it, so I guess I will. I'm terrified that I'll do really bad, but I'll have to see what happens next year.

Wow, is that all that's going on now? Hm. Well, I'll talk to you later, then. Sorry about the long gap. I haven't had anything interesting to say before. Ta-ta for now!

Yay for cousins

This past weekend Karisa and Katies came from Saskatchewan for a visit and, as usual, it was a blast. Of course we watched movies, we can't not do that. We watched 10 Things I Hate About You, She's the Man, and we saw Dreamgirls at the theater with Chryssie. Saturday night.....which I guess was yesterday, was when we watched She's the Man, and we stocked up on junk food; chocolate, chips, timbits, it was awesome. At some point near the end of the movie we all realized that we felt a little sick. We should have known better, everyone has overloaded on candy at least once in their life, but it was fun anyway. We laughed at ourselves. We laughed a lot this weekend. That's not surprising. That is something that takes up a good chunk of our time together, just laughing at ourselves or anything we may find remotely entertaining at the moment.

Along with the movies and laughter we also played a bunch of games. Dutch Blitz, Scum, and Mad Gab were our selections for the weekend. Mad Gab proved to be extremely entertaining for Ris and me. Some of the word combinations they have in there....It was fun.

Unfortunately, they were only here from Wednesday evening to very very early this morning, so we didn't have a lot of time together. Especially during Thursday and Friday as this was the last week of classes before exams and I couldn't miss school. That sucked. But we made up for that lost time, don't you worry. I really wish we could see each other more often, but I 'm glad for the time we do have together. It's that much more special.

One good thing about having exams this week: no school Monday, Thursday or Friday. Yay. Tuesday I have my Math exam at 1:00 in the afternoon, and my Science exam is Wednesday at 9:00 am. Prayers would be appreciated, because I'm really nervous. It's only two exams, but Math 11 is hard and I've always sucked in Science.

I wish I was sorry for my lack of updating recently, but really, I don't really care. It's my life, I'll blog it as I see fit. I highly doubt any of you would want to hear all about my completely eventless weeks, anyway. You'd fall asleep on the keyboard, trust me. So, until the next time hopefully in the near future when I have something interesting to post again, goodbye.

Hello there

Hey there, folks! How's life been for you? Me? Well, I can't complain. Over the last little while my friends and I have spent quite a bit of time hanging out at Lindsay's house which is always a blast. They're an awesome group of girls. I love 'em all. School is just about as good as school can get, I suppose. We had to watch Destinos again in Spanish. I'm sure it would all be very interesting if we could actually understand what was going on at every moment. We get the general idea of what's going on, but the little details as to what makes each episode important is lost on us. It is fun, though, to hear some of the guys in my class start making up what's happening. The come up with some pretty wild ideas sometimes. My Spanish teacher, Mrs. Sowerby, has been sick a lot these past two weeks. We've had a substitute almost half the time. Prayer for her would be very much appreciated.

There was another baby shower for Yvonne and Kyra on Sunday. Yvonne's friends put it together. It was fun. Kyra got some adorable outfits. Lots of pink, but since it's for a baby it's acceptable. Kyra spit up on me when I was holding her. I can forgive her, though. She spat up on Chryssie three times, I believe. I don't know why she didn't use the spit rag. Could have saved her shirt. Oh well.

I am home alone at the moment, just doing absolutely nothing. I'll go do my homework soon. It's not much. Just a few questions for science. We're studying cells now. It's enthralling, really. I now know one thing for sure: I am not taking biology next year. I've almost fallen asleep in class a few times now. I never would, though. That wouldn't be very good. Although the guy that sits next to me has no such qualms. I think he missed all the notes yesterday because he was asleep. What an idiot.

Well, sorry I don't have anything really interesting to report. Basically the past two weeks have been school and bordom. Thrilling. Wait, that sounds like complaining. I said before that I didn't have anything to complain about. Oops. It's not all that terrible, really. I've been able to read lots more, which I love doing. I'm re-reading the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander. I read them in grade six, I believe. I like 'em. I'm now going to go finish off those few science questions. Woot woot!

What a party

Yesterday Steph and I went to Lindsay's house to hang out, along with a lot of Jacqui's (Lindsay's sister) friends. Unfortunately Hailey and Gabe couldn't come, but it was still a blast. We made rice krispie shapes with Christmas krispies and Christmas shapes. It was fun. Lindsay is scary to cook with. Never attempt it. Not that most people who read this blog would, but I thought you'd appreciate the warning nonetheless.

After we finished those, we sewed! I have never hand-sewn before, so it was quite interesting. Again, we made Christmas stuff. I know it's a little late, but I prefer to think of it as eleven months early. What each of us made were Christmas tree decorations. They were snowmen looking up at falling snowflakes, and it's stuffed. I don't know how to explain it. They look really pretty. Well, actually mine looks like crap next to Lindsay's and Steph's but I'm proud of myself. One of the beads have fallen off already. I wonder if that's my fault?

While we were working on those and the younger girls (by one year, but whatever) finished their ball ornaments, we all sat and watched Pirates of the Carribean. Great movie.

When that was finished, it was our turn to make the ball ornaments while the other girls did the sewing craft. We just took clear ball ornaments, took out the top part that hangs it, and put two or three different colours of paint in them. Once in there we turned the balls in all different directions and once the entire inside was covered we turned them upside-down in an egg carton so all the paint that wasn't on the sides would run out. The result was really pretty. I think we each made four. They apparently take quite a while to dry, so mine are sitting on the kitchen windowsill drying out. They're pretty.

So, it was a very fun day for us. We were there for most of the day, from 10a.m. until 5 p.m. Very fun.

Oh yeah, I have super exciting news!! For me, anyway. Karisa is coming soon!!! Yay!!!! I think she arrives on the 24th, but I'm not sure how long she's staying. I'm not sure if Katie is coming too. I've only heard about Ris. But I'm so excited! I haven't seen her for so long! Well, since October, but it feels like forever. I'm so happy! Hooray for me. But I will not go shopping with her. She cannot make me. I won't I won't I won't.

And if anyone hasn't figured it out yet, there are pictures of Kyra on Yvonne's And Chrystal's blogs. Very cute.

Bye people!

So sorry

I know, I know. It's been a while. It's been pointed out to me several times by several different sources. I can't promise anything substantial to make up for my lack of blogging recently, but here's a brief (hopefully) update of what's been going on these past couple of weeks.

First was the MEI Christmas banquet. It was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I have no pictures to show you. But you can take my word for it - it was an amazing night. The hosts were awesome and hilarious and the entertainment they had was great. The entire evening was amazing, especially when I went with the girls I hang out with to Lindsay's house, where we partied and stayed up all night. :P Just kidding. We had a blast, and we watched Phantom. I fell asleep somewhere in there, and at some point in the night after the movie had ended Lindsay woke up Hailey and me so we could move to our sleeping bags somewhere on the floor. I was comfortable in my position against Gabrielle's lap, but I think she was glad to have me move. Sorry about that, Gabe. In the morning Lindsay's mom attempted to wake us up, but Hailey and Lindsay, as we learned, are very slow to respond in the mornings. We had trouble getting Lindsay up until I jumped on her and shoved her off of the couch she was sleeping on. That was fun. The best thing is she was too sleepy still to really do anything to me. I love it.

Wow. Looking back now, the banquet seems like it was a really long time ago. Anyhoo, I think that's it for that time. Next was........geez, I don't remember. Did anything else exciting happen before Christmas? I don't think so. Hm.

Moving on.

I'm all better now. I'm not sick anymore, and I'm very happy about that. Being sick is not so fun. It's rather dismal, actually. I'm glad to be rid of the evil cold type thing. Bronchitis. That's what it was. Well, it doesn't matter now. It's over. Hooray for me.

We celebrated Christmas as a family on Boxing Day which was a blast as usual. We had a brunch of waffles and then played Settlers of Catan for quite a while before opening presents. What an awesome game. It's so addictive. The day was fun, as just about all times where our family comes together are. Have I mentioned lately that I have an awesome family? No? Allow me to rectify that. I have the most awesomest family on the face of the Earth. Yep. True story.

After that day, I don't think much else happened. I've been on Christmas break from school for the last week and I have another week to go still before I have to return. Good stuff. Last night Chryssie and I went to our cousin's house where Jared and Lisa are house/dog/cat-sitting and played Settlers for a very long time, with a hot tub break somewhere in there. We played until very late....well, I guess it should be very, very early. Oops. Like I said, it's addictive. And, happiness of happiness, I won my very first game! I was so excited. I'm very proud of myself. And again today I won two games in a row against Lisa and Chrystal. I'm so happy.

And I think that's it. That's my past two weeks in a nutshell. Although for some reason I feel like I'm missing something.....hm. What could that be? Oh yes. There is one more somewhat thrilling event that some people might be excited about. What is it? Well, I'm pretty sure that by now everyone on Earth knows. But whatever. Let's say it again.

On Sunday December 24, 2006, my sister Yvonne gave birth to her daughter!!! A baby girl named Kyra Makenzie Gronau. She's so precious. I love her so much. She's so tiny with little wrinkly fingers and feet and she's just so adorable! I'm ecstatic!!! It's so weird, though. Suddenly there's this whole new person in our family. Today Yvonne brought her over again and we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding while Kyra ate for a bit. When Chryssie had to leave (ha!) and give her up, I got to hold her again. It's amazing how much joy I get just from holding her against me, watching her sleep and make her crazy faces. She's such a blessing. And she herself was blessed with some pretty darn awesome parents. If I didn't have such good ones myself I'd be jealous of her. Yvonne and Eric are awesome with her, and Kyra is going to grow to be such an amazing girl under their influence. But for now it's nice just to have her a little baby girl whom everyone can argue over whose turn it is to cuddle her. At one week old she's already growing. People always say that babies grow so fast, but I've never really seen it happen. It's unbelievable. She's still tiny, of course, but I can tell she's grown a bit. She's amazing. I think I've said that. I'm just so happy. A baby! What a Christmas present that was! Congratulations to Eric and Yvonne. May God watch over you and bless your little family. I love you guys!

Where has the time gone?

I swear it was Thursday just yesterday.... And yet here we are, at Thursday again. It's amazing to me how slowly the week seems to go by, but then when I look back I think, "Where has the time gone?". It's strange. Anyhoo, I'll try really hard to make this short. Although I'm sure we all know how successfull that plan will be.....
Last Thursday, the day that feels like it was yesterday, was the B.C. Loewen girls fondue. It was very fun. Almost all of us were able to attend, and we each brought different items for dipping. There was eating, talking, laughing, and all that fun stuff. It was great. Have I mentioned lately that I have the most awesomest family ever? No? Allow me to rectify that. I have the most awesomest family ever. They're the best. Loewen girls rock!
Um....hm. I think that's all that's happened this past week. That's boring. Maybe I should go burn the school down so I have an interesting story to tell. For some reason my friends don't agree with my plan. I don't see why. Flames are so beautiful. Can you imagine how magnificent an entire school of flames would be? I think it would be wonderful.
Um, maybe I lied. That's not all that happened. I got sick. I know, it's not a monumental accomplishment or anything like that. Actually, I wish I had never accomplished this feat in the first place. It's terrible. For the past two days I've my voice has been disappearing and coming back randomly. It's rather annoying. My throat is so clogged that most of the time I have to make a concious effort to breathe. What a blast. It has been at its worst for my Spanish classes yesterday and today. I couldn't talk at all, so whenever we had to call out our marks to the teacher (which happens often), the guy that sits next to me had to say everything for me. I felt bad, but he doesn't seem to mind. It just bugs me that I can't speak. It's getting better now, for today, because I've been drinking the disgusting mixture of hot water, lemon juice, and honey. It's actually not as nasty today as it was yesterday. I think it could become somewhat pleasant if I forced myself to drink it everyday. Which I'll probably need to because I need my voice for Saturday. Lindsay and I are videotaping mock interviews for Planning. Sort of difficult to answer questions on camera without a voice. Somehow I don't think that would get me full marks.
Jeez, I go on forever about stuff. I think if I had to read my blog I would get bored. What do you think? To be honest, I've never read over my blog after writing it. I have had comments saying that my blog is fun to read. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope so. Being boring wouldn't be very interesting. Hence the term.
MEI Christmas banquet is tomorrow. I'm excited. They're always so fun. Well, the one I've been to was fun. But according to Chrys they're always fun. My friends and I are all going to Lindsay's house after the banquet for a sleepover. We're gonna watch The Phantom of the Opera, which is the theme of the party. We thought it was fitting. It'll be fun. Any time spent with those four girls is a blast. I love 'em to death. I have the most awesomest friends, too.
I did warn you at the beginning that this would probably be long again. The sad thing is, I think this is one of the shorter posts I've written. Maybe not. I don't really know. Maybe I should stop judging myself so harshly. I haven't had any complaints about the length or mezmerizingness of my blog. Only good comments. That makes me happy. Okay, then.
I'm sure I'll have stuff to talk about after my seemingly busy weekend (things always seem like they're going to be really hectic to me but they usually turn out not so much hectic), so don't expect anything before then. And, I'm not going to make any promises, but I'll see if maybe I'll be able to post pictures of the banquet and stuff. We'll see. I'm doubting it.
So, until later, buh-bye.
